On our bike ride along the lake shore, Allan and I were thrilled to see,up close, the back side of the famous Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.

Soldier Field's web says that "Soldier Field is A Stadium in the Park"; now that I've seen the side toward the Lake, I agree.

This stadium was opened in 1924 and originally called "Municipal Grant Park Stadium. A year later it was renamed Soldier Field They modeled it after ancient Greek & Roman stadiums. It was renovated and completed in 2003. The controversy that it created resulted in the loss of its National Register of Historic Places in 2006!!

The Chicago Bears started playing at Soldier Field in 1971. That is why I have been to Soldier Field. It's a great place to see the Bears play.

They have added a Children's Garden to provide children and families with space for imagination, interaction, and space to play.

You are now able to stroll the famed Soldier Field COLONNADES on days when events are not being held. Thus, you can view the display called Medal of Honor.

There is a Memorial Water Wall that is 250-foot granite wall with a stream of continuous water that flows over 8 medallions and seals which honor the different brances of the armed services. [North side of the stadium].

There are new parklands that surround Soldier Field with landscaped grounds, family areas, a sledding hill, and many memorials to Veteran's.

Even if you don't like the Bears or football, you should still go see this remarkable Stadium in the Park"

The new "spoof" in town is the redux/renovated Soldier Field. Politicians were promised that the exterior walls will remain standing and the interior totally redone. However, they were also promised that the redo architecture would not stand our above the old field walls Wrong they were, and then it was too late. It looks like a space oddesy in the making and weird for sure. This became an embarrassment for many old tradition people in town

Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears Football Team, is the oldest stadium in the National Football League. Built in the 1920's, it was named in homor all that serve in the US Armed Forces.

The stadium was just completely renovated to attain compliance with the modern demands that are carried by major sports franchises. Basically, the Chciago Bears wanted to leave the city and relocate to the suburbs after building a brand new state of the art arena. The city, fearing lost parking and tax revenue, did not want the team to leave the city limits. The city and the team eventually reached a deal to where the city would tear down, with the exception of the outer colums, and rebuild Soldier Field on its existing location. So now we have what was once a proud and traditional relic replaced by a proud and traditional relic that had a spaceship crash on top of it.

Oh, and the Bears aren't much better either. No Super Bowls since 1986 and have made the playoffs only 4 times since then. But it is still a great time. Nothing beats tailgating in the parking lot, drinking before the game, and watching football.

Attention sports fans! This is a must-see for all of you. It's one of the most famous stadiums in the world. Like most things in Chicago, Soldier Field has a grand style of architecture that reflects the way people here think--BIG.

This stadium is home of National Football League's Chicago Bears and Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire.It is located very close to Field Museum and Adler Planetarium.
