Cliffbreaker's Restaurant, Rockford, Il.: Luxury Dining....on the Rock River.

by ladyanne

We had the opportunity to attend a banquet at the Cliffbreaker's Restaurant in Rockford, Illinois. It was a fabulous meal, even for serving over 200 people. The location is lovely on the Rock River, and the food was excellent.I highly recommend this restaurant. Chicken Kiev.

The Parthenon

by traveldave

Chicago has a large Greek population, and there are many fine Greek restaurants in Greektown. One of the more renowned Greektown restaurants is The Parthenon. The owners of The Parthenon claim to have invented the "flaming saganaki presentation" back in 1968. At tablesides throughout the restaurant, waiters ignite platters of cheese into flaming torches while yelling "Opa"! The Parthenon offers reasonably-priced classical Greek cuisine which includes moussaka, pastitsio, lamb dishes, octopus in white wine sauce, and sweet Greek deserts.

The Signature Room at the 95th

by traveldave

One of the most popular and romantic restaurants in Chicago is The Signature Room at the 95th. Located on the 95th floor of the 100-story, 1,127-foot (344-meter) John Hancock Center, it offers fine dining with incomparable views of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. The best time to dine at The Signature Room at the 95th is in the evening, as the sun sets over Chicago. As dusk falls, lights twinkle and glimmer all over the city, turning the entire metropolitan area into a sea of light. As the darkness deepens, the waters of Lake Michigan turn from bright blue to deep purple to inky black. The Signature Room at the 95th has an award-winning contemporary American menu. The entrees are among the most expensive in Chicago, but the food is excellent, the service is impeccable, and the view is worth the extra expense.

Japonais - Contemporary Japanese Cuisine: So many favorites! One of Chic-town's best!

by acommon1

Are your taste buds ready? Then let's go! If you are into Asian fusion then you have a place to check out here. Once you get past sushi/sashimi, I would recommend that you load up on some of the appetizers. You have to inquire about the "ROCK"!!!! Very tasty steak and entertaining too.Dress nice. A lot of pretty people hangout here. Yeah, don't ask why they let me in though. Venture downstairs to the lounge level for good music. You have an option of an open social area or your own crew an relax on a coach with a streaming vale for some partial privacy. Right on the Chicago River where it bends. Walk outside to catch a breeze that sweeps over the bouncy waters below. The host for you to know is named Alex. He is the man. Highly professional. Him and the staff make you feel special. Tell Alex that Rob J/San Francisco recommended that you stop by. I am a regular at least when I am back in...

Lou Mitchell's: French Toast

by shawkneesea

Going to the Sears Tower or Union Station (ya know the one from The Untouchables) or maybe the Mercantile Exchange like Ferris Bueller? You can even walk to the Picasso at Daley Plaza from Lou's.Trust me, go to Lou Mitchell's first! Must have the French Toast, a fluffy omelet, and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Landmark Cafe & Creperie: Great Place Right by the Train Station

by DueSer

Faced with a long wait because of a delayed train, I wandered over to Seminary Street and happened upon Landmark and I am very glad I did.In a cozy setting, this restaurant offers a wide variety of sandwiches, pastas, crepes, and desserts. There is a bit of an eclectic flavor to the menu, which was a pleasant surprise. Many items offer Canadian bacon or polenta or panini in addition to the crepes and waffles. I had the Royal Canadian sandwich - Canadian bacon and Monterey Jack cheese on rye bread and it was delicious. Next time, I may give in and splurge on a waffle.

Lou Malnati's: Deep Dish Pizza

by damond

Lou Malnati'sA sure way to get into an argument with a Chicagoan is to declare a pizza the "best in Chicago" so I will instead call them my favorites. Lou's usually comes up at the top of any poll of Chicago pizza joints .There are many different styles of pizza that you can find in Chicago, deep dish is a Chicago specialty. It's thicker than a thin crust pizza and piled high with ingredients, less heavy than Chicago's other specialty pizza, the stuffed pizza.Lou's has a great Chicago style deep dish pizza. Starts with a thin crust pulled up high on the sides of a deep dish pan and topped with slices of mozzarella cheese, additional ingredients are spread on top of the cheese and topped with a fresh tomato sauce and a sprinkle of cheese and spices. For a little bit extra, you can order their famous butter crust. If you are not lucky enough to be coming to Chicago soon, you can also order...

Paisanos: The best pizza in Chicago

by grimsrgj

I think there are two, both downtown, both small, both quaint. I suggest the deep dish served in a black round pan with a spatula.....the one with the works! It is to die for. The atmosphere is fun, busy, cozy. It's the crust, it's the sauce, it's the freshest mushrooms, sausage and pepperoni, onion, green pepper......

Yoder's Kitchen: Amish & Mennonite Homestyle Cooking

by Trastull

A full service family retaurant offering the bes Amish/ Mennonite cooking. They offer a huge variety of foods, Chicken, pork, Veggies, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, Apple butter.Great down home cooking. Makes you think of Grandma! We just had a buffet meal, but I guess they have breakfast buffet and a whole slew of other great offers. Check out their website for more info under the menu link. They do make you pay full price if you share: IE you know when you share food with your 4 year old because they won't eat enough to pay $5.50 for them so you let them eat off your plate so you don't waste your money.... Right thats what I'm talking about. They also cater to the tourist by having a gift shop right out where you pay for your meal.Otherwise a great place! Fried Chicken, Homemade bread w/ Apple butter
