This is our favorite chain restaurant to visit. Their food is always done the way you order, the staff is very courteous and eager to have your order prepared just as you wish. The atmosphere is soothing and best of all this restaurant is a NO SMOKING establishment. This was the main reason we started visiting this chain. They just opened in Rockford, Illinois and are doing a great business here.
Favorite Dish: Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Burger is my favorite dish along with unseasond fries.

Carlyle Brewing Company is a 2,400-square-foot brewery. They offer many different styles of lagers and ales. Don Carlyle also offers different choices during the holidays and is always trying new recipies. They also offer a small menu of sandwiches and pizza.
As of August 1, 2006, the Brewery is a non smoking establishment.
Favorite Dish: All the ales & lagers are great, you just have to come and try them all

If I am feeling swanky and want a really interesting and delicious treat I go here. Renowned Austrian chef Josef Schwaiger offers continental dining from Barbados. The restaurant has aseafood and oyster bar and a simple but elegant interior.
Favorite Dish: One of my favorite things is the French martini and some raw oysters!

This is a favorite hang out for my friends. It serves an eclectic clientele from yuppies to hippies. The food is very good, reasonable priced, and interesting. On many nights there is an "adult happy meal" special. For example, on Thursday it has been Veggie Pasta night. You get a choice of Wild Mushroom pasta, Asparagas and Pesto pasta, or fire roasted tomato pasta. It is also served with a chioce of soup or salad, and homemade bread. The price is just under $6. There are nightly seafood specials, drink specials, and occasionaly entertainment. The owner travels to the markets in Chicago for the food.
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is Tarragon chicken. It is served with colcannon potatoes, and a sort of coleslaw. And of course soup or salad and bread. I believe it is about $11.95
The foccacias are also a great deal.

Great food, Swedish ambience. The menu has many selections, both Swedish foods and American. The staff is excellent! There is also a gift shop and select swedish foods available for purchase. They are also able to book wedding parties, meetings, other gatherings upon request.
Visiting the Stockholm Inn when in Rockford is a must!
Favorite Dish: Most people love the Swedish pancakes....the best ever!!!

My thanks to VT's very own KaisaL (aka Karen) for suggesting this restaurant. It is quite a large place, catering to the many immigrant or descendants of Swedes who founded the city. They serve both Swedish and American food, and that includes breakfast, of which we tried the Swedish pancakes. These were great, and not really all that expensive. The restaurant sports a number of Swedish decorations, yet retains a really local flavor, despite the Swedish gift shop, bakery (baked goods available in the restaurant or at the counter) and menu. That aspect is kindof reinforced by the fact that the restaurant is located in a strip mall, but make no mistake, this place serves REALLY GOOD FOOD, must have a hundred tables and can fill them all.
In addition to great food, people seemed really friendly, and happily helped us making our baby daughter conmfortable. For the sake of trivia, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick is one of the owners.
Favorite Dish: Swedish pancakes, with lingonberry dresing on the side, superb!

I attented a banquet at this restaurant and the room was huge, lovely setting on the Rock River ....and for a banquet for so many people, (The Rockford Master's Commission Bible School), the food was great, as if you ordered by yourself. Great Chicken Kiev, chocolate checkered cake, and fresh delicious salad, blanched vegies, all exceptional.
Favorite Dish: Chicken Kiev.

Beef-A-Roo makes a great burger, but they make other good stuff too. Its a small chain, maybe six or seven places, each one with a different theme. They use a high quality meat, keep the place spotless, and just generally provide a cheap, delicious, bountiful meal that makes you happy. Burgers the way burgers should be.
Favorite Dish: Double Cheeseburger!!! And another, and another!!!
