Schaumburg Things to Do

  • by twofishes13 Written Mar 21, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Woodfield Shopping Center is probably the biggest mall in Illinois. It has over 300 stores including Nordstrom, Marshall Field's, Lord & Taylor, JCPenney, Sears. Even if you don't have any money you can get quite a workout just window shopping.

  • For the Meat Eaters!

This is a fairly new style of restaurant, where they serve all you can eat meat!!! If you're a carnivore, you'll love it here!!! You may start off with the salad bar, but save room, because there's a lot more to come!!! Nicely dressed waiters come around with skewers and skewers of fresh cuts of filets, sirloin, pork, chicken, lamb cooked the way...

  • Pub grub

I've eaten at the Schaumburg location of The Ram several times, most recently in December 2008. We head here when out shopping in the area and are looking for a more casual place to eat. The menu is mostly sandwiches, burgers and salads although there are some higher priced entrees-steaks, seafood, chicken, etc. The last few times I've been there...

  • Taylor Street Italian in the burbs

I love Rosebud on Taylor Street so when I saw that they had recently opened a location in Schaumburg near Woodfield Mall, I thought it would be a good place to have lunch with a friend. We were the 1st customers of the day on a Sunday for lunch and it wasn't busy when we left so we got very attentive and quick service. I imagine during the week...

  • Terrific Thai food

The quality of the food here is high and relatively inexpensive. The service is pleasant and very quick, important when you have a lot of shopping to do :-)I have not personally brought any children here but I have seen people recommend this restaurant as kid friendly and the website has a link describing their approach to children. I have tried...

  • Terrific steaks that won't break the...

Chicagoland is well known for it's steaks but some of the more well known places (Morton's and Gibson's to name a couple) will put a huge dent in your wallet. We ate lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. It's a very large restaurant so although there were quite a few patrons, we were seated in an area almost by ourselves which gave us a chance to chat...

  • Wonderful Italian Chain!

All of your Italian favorites in a cozy setting. There are Maggiano's all over the country. If you're visiting check their website for locations. I love veal at Italian restaurants. At Maggiano's there are many to choose from: veal stuffed ravioli, veal milanese, veal marsala, veal parmesan, veal chop and veal piccata.

Schaumburg Shopping

  • Ikea

Sweden's Ikea has a store in suburban Chicago. I've never been to an Ikea, so can't compare them. This one has breakfast, where I ate the day I was here. Swedish pancakes, whipped cream and lingonberries. :)If you do shopping here, bring a bag to carry your goods home, I don't think they have bags to give away, but you can buy one right there. I...

  • At one time, the largest mall in the US

My main reason for visiting Schaumburg is usually meeting my friend who lives in nearby Palatine for lunch and doing a little shopping at Woodfield Mall. At one time Woodfield was the largest mall in the US, the Mall of America in Minnesota now claims that title. The department stores located at Woodfield are Marshall Field's, JC Penney, Nordstrom,...

  • Pay half price at Medieval Times...

Do not buy your tickets over the phone or at the counter. Surf the net for coupons. I found a coupon (code WEBKTF) at the Medieval Times Schaumburg website wherein kids under 18 is free for each full paid adult (for the entire month of February 2008). It would say that it is not valid for online purchase but that is not true. Go to...

  • Medieval Times

My young nephew enjoyed this place so much the first time that when we asked him where he wanted to go for his birthday, he wanted to go again. So I looked up the website and after I got over the initial shock of the price, $47.95 for adults, $33.95 for children, I booked the tickets for a Sunday afternoon when I could use the coupons in the paper...
