Going to the harbor to watch the sailboats pass by, catch a tan or a fish on the pier, or enjoying an ice cream or hotdog, sums up a day at Waukegan Harbor.
There's Dockside Dogs (see my restaurant tips), an ice cream parlor, deli and the Waukegan Yacht Club for your dining delight.
Free parking in the lot near the club is convenient.
On a VERY clear day, you can see the Chicago skyline off in the distance across Lake Michigan, that can't be beat. :)
Fourth of July fireworks at the harbor are incredible, as you can imagine.
This is a 'must-do' when you're in Waukegan. :D

It's six flags... they have roller coasters and rides and such. I've actually never been there, but I pass by it everytime I'm in town! :)

Huge mall... over 200 stores here. And there's a Rainforest Cafe here also, plus a movie theatre. I like Outdoor World myself, with some good prices on a lot of outdoor gear and clothing.

Returning from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we drove through the city of Waukegan. Quite nice downtown actually.

Small town on the Michigan lakeshore. We drove trough it, but it is definately more interesting, if you come from Milwaukee and go south to Chicago, then to be on the highway I94.
