Corydon is a very safe city.
There have been only 1 murder and 3 rapes in the last 6 years.
The only noticeable item on the crime sheets is petty thefts (shoplifting) and it is far below the national average.
Having said that Corydon is safe, doesn't mean that normal precautions shouldn't be taken.
Remember to lock car doors and keep your wallet in a safe place and be aware of where you are and who is near you. If you don't act like a silly tourist, you are less likely to be targeted.

Corydon has had its share of weather warnings and advisories for tornadoes and floods over the years. The closest that any dangerous tornado has been to Corydon was 11 miles west in 1974.
This part of Indiana has been known to get 6 or 7 inches of rainfall in a 24 hour period. In 2006, Little Indian Creek overflowed its banks, endangering property in Corydon.
But the locals have a wry sense of humor about these events, as seen from a quote from their local paper:
"The bad news is that heavy rain and the flooding that followed Friday evening, Sept. 22, and again the next day, canceled most of the two-day Cockadoodle Days festival at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. The good news is that heavy rain and the flooding that followed canceled most of the two-day Cockadoodle Days festival at the Harrison County Fairgrounds."
So don't sweat the small stuff and have a good time in Corydon.
