Fox and the Hound: Good drinks and good pool
Fox is a good place to go with some friends and enjoy a night out drinking. It's not loud or over crowded, there is no booty dancing or people attempting to fight. The higher prices and the dress code keep the trouble away.
Great pool tables, good cigars, ice cold beer.
Dress Code: No hats, no jerseys, no extreme baggy clothes.
A sample of bars to see: The bar scene in Evansville
1 The Jungle - upscale cocktail bar in the downstairs of the resturant
2 Fox and Hound - pool, clean place, good beer
3 Fast Eddies - band and dance floor, cheap beer on most nights
4 Hoosier Lounge - it's the lower floor of the Casino and is fun to stop in
4 Oxygen - dance floor and multi-bars, this is a night club for Evansville.
5 Old Chicago - resturant and good sports bar for chilling out with beer
Once you have hit these places, it is time to really find what you like. I can't tell you how many times I thought I would not like a place when walking up for the first time, and ended up making it a #1 pick.
I like people and usually I find the places where it is easy to mingle and talk. Check out places like Smitty's, Sportsman's, Joey's off of Franklin street. There is a really cool german bar called Geirsthouse (I know I mispelled it) across the street from Smitty's. Best part about this area is they are all walking distance and all have outdoor seating for warm nights. Wear a pair of jeans and what ever up top and you'll fit right in. There's another bar in the middle of these called "Club Royal" and it is trying to be an upscale martini bar, but you can probably still get in with jeans and a nice shirt.
HammerHeads - check it out on Saturday's for 80's night where the dance club is downstairs. Some nights are better than others - Smoky.
Bars like Deerhead, Jinny's Place, O'brian's, Duck Inn, and others have small cover bands playing on weekends and are fun to look into.
When the weather gets warm definitely go to Marina Point. They have an outdoor tent where they host concerts, and it overlooks the river where it's nice to either go outside with drinks and meet people or stay inside, but if it's cold weather it might be dead.
Little Cheers: Classy bar
Scott Winzinger plays here on Thursdays and Saturdays. Fun, classy bar located in downtown Evansville.
Dress Code: Dressy to casual, jeans and a nice shirt for guys, sneakers are fine for guys, girls should stick with a little dressier attire.
