Fort Wayne International Aiport (FWA) is a real convenient place to fly in and out of.
Parking is inexpensive at $5.50 to $13.25 per day, and the furthest lot is only about a three minute walk to the terminal.
We flew at a busy time and there was no line at security.
History of FWA

It became a civilian airport in 1946

The Fort Wayne Airport is fairly sufficient for a town of its size. Most major airlines service the port with connection flights to major cities for travel cross-country. The airport is much less stressful than many others I've been in, like those in the bigger cities. The mood is much more relaxed generally. You'll never have to worry about having to walk too far to find your baggage or gate. Rental car hubs and a nice gift shop are also conveniently inside on the ground level, and a Days Inn is located just off the premises.

Several major airports have service to the Fort Wayne International Airport, including Cleveland, Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and St. Louis. The airport is several miles south of Fort Wayne, exit 99 on I-69. Thanks to the new Airport Expressway it is very easy to get from I-69 to the airport and vice versa. Trust me, it was not fun to get there before!

Fort Wayne has 9 non-interstate highways that enter or traverse the city. Interstate 69 travels from the Canadian border north of Detroit, through Lansing, Michigan and ends up on the northeast side of Indianapolis. This interstate is supposed to start a 4 year construction project to widen it to 3 lanes in each direction through Fort Wayne starting in 2003 which will cause for major traffic headaches. This can be avoided by taking I-469 around the east side of Fort Wayne, although this doubles the distance you would travel on i-69 to get through Fort Wayne. US 24 heads from Fort Wayne to Toledo, Ohio in the east and Hunington, Wabash, Peru, and Rochester in the west. US 30 eventually reaches Chicago in the west and Lima, Ohio in the east. US 33 will get you to Ohio in the east and to South Bend in the west.

If you want to buy a car in Fort Wayne, there are several dealerships near Glenbrook Mall on Coliseum Blvd, but your better off going to the west side to the 14-69 Auto Mall. About every dealership you can think of is in this unique area! The auto mall is located on Illinois Rd east of I-69, take the Illinois Rd exit off 69 to the huge 14/69 Auto Mall sign on the north side of the road.
