Several major airports have service to the Fort Wayne International Airport, including Cleveland, Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and St. Louis. The airport is several miles south of Fort Wayne, exit 99 on I-69. Thanks to the new Airport Expressway it is very easy to get from I-69 to the airport and vice versa. Trust me, it was not fun to get there before! Leave a Comment

Planes that come and go here are bigger than this! by treerose The Fort Wayne Airport is fairly sufficient for a town of its size. Most major airlines service the port with connection flights to major cities for travel cross-country. The airport is much less stressful than many others I've been in, like those in the bigger cities. The mood is much more relaxed generally. You'll never have to worry about having to walk too far to find your baggage or gate. Rental car hubs and a nice gift shop are also conveniently inside on the ground level, and a Days Inn is located just off the premises. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Fort Wayne has 9 non-interstate highways that enter or traverse the city. Interstate 69 travels from the Canadian border north of Detroit, through Lansing, Michigan and ends up on the northeast side of Indianapolis. This interstate is supposed to start a 4 year construction project to widen it to 3 lanes in each direction through Fort Wayne starting in 2003 which will cause for major traffic headaches. This can be avoided by taking I-469 around the east side of Fort Wayne, although this doubles the distance you would travel on i-69 to get through Fort Wayne. US 24 heads from Fort Wayne to Toledo, Ohio in the east and Hunington, Wabash, Peru, and Rochester in the west. US 30 eventually reaches Chicago in the west and Lima, Ohio in the east. US 33 will get you to Ohio in the east and to South Bend in the west. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

If you want to buy a car in Fort Wayne, there are several dealerships near Glenbrook Mall on Coliseum Blvd, but your better off going to the west side to the 14-69 Auto Mall. About every dealership you can think of is in this unique area! The auto mall is located on Illinois Rd east of I-69, take the Illinois Rd exit off 69 to the huge 14/69 Auto Mall sign on the north side of the road. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Camp site by Fullmoonfever Johnny Appleseed Campground Camping in the middle of the city might seem unusual, but this camp ground is nicely located close to Jonny Appleseed Park and his historic grave site and The River Greenway runs right by the camp ground. In addition, you can walk to see a Fort Wayne Wizards baseball game, go fishing (its only about 200 feet from the Maumee River) or walking/biking on The Greenway. The link has additional info, along with schedule of fees and location. Directions: The Johnny Appleseed Campground is located on U.S. 930 (Coliseum Blvd.) in Fort Wayne behind Memorial Stadium, or take Parnell Avenue south from Coliseum, campground is on left side of street before crossing river.Website: http://www.fortwayneparks.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=45

Fall on the Greenway by Fullmoonfever The Greenway is a great way to see Ft Wayne. The Trail runs along the banks of the St. Mary’s, St. Joseph and the Maumee Rivers and crosses numerous bridges and passes by the old fort thats in the middle of Fort Wayne. A good starting point is Johnny Appleseed Park. The Greenway has a web site with additional information concerning points of interest, distance of each loop and has a downloadable map. by Fullmoonfever Fort Wayne has a professional base team, the Fort Wayne Wizards. They are a single "A" club and are affiliated with the San Diego Padres. We go about once a year. The game tickets cost 6 dollars and all the seats are great. I think going to a minor league game is more fun than a major league game. They have fireworks for every night game. Please see link for more info.
