Hartford City is located in east central Indiana. Hartford City is about 40 miles west of Interstate 75 and 10 miles east of Interstate 69. Hartford City is very close to Ball State University in Muncie, Taylor University in Upland, Indiana Wesleyan in Marion and IVY Tech in both Marion and Muncie.
There are several older churches around the downtown that have been preserved and are still in use. Each is unique in style and of course, worship services.
This original Carnegie Library is still in use, with minor modifications. Expansion on the lower level at the back for youth-children books. The Hartford City Library was started in 1903 by an endowment from the Carnegie Foundation, which built the building.
A Richardson Style building, built in the 19th Century. I reflected the economic viablity of middle American farms and industry. After the American Civil War, the industrial north experienced a growth of industry and economic power.
