Indianapolis is a hub of fine dinning. However, I personally enjoy one place of many in this great city. First and foremost, Buca di Beppo's is the premier Italian restaurant in the downtown area. Combined with an 'out of a mob movie' feel, the food is exquisite. With that said, there are no gimmicks being played toward making this feel. You will find plenty of tongue in cheek humor as well as you attend the locally famous bathrooms.
Small, very Italian feel, with huge portions of food. As I mentioned, men check out the bathrooms. It's a delicate surprise you are sure to enjoy.

Anything and Everything!! And I mean it. Things come in such large portions I would suggest going with family or friends, and sharing large meals. Like always, ask for the specials. The wine isn't bad either, although not the best selection in the world.

This is a chain of Italian restaurants that is really a lot of fun. The food is served in family style portions so I suggest bringing along a lot of friends or be prepared to eat leftovers for several days. There are crazy things like the Pope Table which has a bust of the Pope in the center of the table and there is also the Kitchen Table where you actually eat in the kitchen. The decor is great and the atmosphere puts you in a great mood.

This is a great place to visit if dining downtown and have a large group of people. The food is served family style (large dishes that you pass and serve yourself) and one order serves around 3 - 4 adults. The location in North Indianapolis (Castelton) does not have the fun atmosphere that the downtown location has.

Buca di Beppo

Buca di Beppo is a chain restaurant with good Italian food. All dining is meant to be done family style with huge portions. Small portions serve 2-3 people and large portions serve 4-6. This is a good place if you are going out with a big group of people.

The dining rooms are festive and decorated with all kinds of interesting photos and Italian things. Service is good but not the quickest. Food is reasonably priced - you get a ton of food for your money, but remember it is also meant to be family style.

Overall, it is good but I have had better truly authentic Italian food.

Hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 11-10
Friday - Saturday: 11-11
Sunday: 11-9

We had an order of garlic bread with the Quattro al Forno, which is a sampler plate of all the baked pasta specialties. No complaints - everything was great.
