  • Taxies are expensive in Indianapolis, also you will pay more money if you buy items in the downtown mall, and shops there. The malls in the suburbs have everything and free parking to boot.

Nashville, IN - once a true artist colony it is now mostly gift shops and junk. Yes, the scenery IS gorgeous but it is just as nice in Bloomington. So exit Interstate 65, go first to Storey Indiana - it is VERY charming, then stop for one hour in Nashville (about 20 minutes off I-64) and proceed another 20 minutes West to Bloomington. You'll thank me. IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS POSTCARD!!

  • AFTER READING COMMENT ABOUT THE "TRACK", NASHVILLE, AND DEER CREEK, I MUST CONFESS THEY ARE ALL TRUE. INDY IS JUST BRIGHT LIGHTS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BIG CORNFIELD. UNLESS YOUR AUTO PLATES BEGIN WITH 29, YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO GO TO THE CREEK. TRY GREENSBURG FOR THE TREE, OR PERHAPS PARKE CO. FOR THE BRIDGES. McCORMICK'S CREEK, AND TURKEY RUN HAVE BROWN COUNTY BEAT HANDS DOWN, AND YOU WON'T PAY $10.00 FOR A COFFEE MUG. STAY AWAY FROM DOWNTOWN, THOSE OF US WHO LIVE HERE DO.

  • If concerts are your thing and you're heading this way to visit the Verizon Music Center...formerly Deer Creek...your troubles are just beginning. Whether it's the burly staff they hire to keep the young ones in line (i'm 48 they don't bother me anymore) or the horrible parking job they can't seem to ever get right before and after shows, you'll see your dollars disappear before your eyes for things like water, popcorn, the occassional cocktail and the like. You'd be better served to attend the same show somewhere else if you can get tickets. The old Deer Creek never seemed to have that kind of problem. Funny how a name changes everything.

Bring a cooler with plenty of cokes, water and other beverages for afterwards, be prepared to sit with your car running at the end of the show for a minimum of 2 hours if it's Dave Mathews, or more if it's THE DEAD or LOLLAPALOOZA............due to the alcohol/drug check points on the way out of the venue, thereby causing additional delays. Get a good night's sleep prior to attending these shows because you are going to be up late.

The Murat Theatre and Clowes Hall have some respectable artists performing. Also in INDY the downtown sponsors a Jazz festival in June and the Ribfest with free entertainment in July.

  • The bars in Circle City Mall... It’s a shopping mall for Christ sake, go there to shop (it is good for that), and not to booze.
