The old courthouse is interesting, but the square is mostly memorials to the veterans from Grant County who have served in the American Wars since 1862,

The cemetery originated from the National Disabled Veterans Home located on the west side of the grounds. The Home was developed to assist veterans of the American Civil War, who returned home with a disability. As these men aged, they began to pass away and a burial place was needed. Since then, this cemetery has been run as a part of the National Cemetery System, allowing any veteran to be buried here. The grounds have been enlarged several times over the years and in 2011 was have an expansion by half it's current size added.
