Really, the only reason I ever go to Michigan City is to visit this mall. It's about 45 minutes from Hammond, 1 1/4 hours from Chicago.
One of the stores with the best "bargains" is the Coach outlet. The purses and accessories are still expensive but are about 1/2 of what you'd pay at a department store.

What to pay: Like most outlet malls, not all stores are bargains so you really have to know your prices.

The outdoor outlet has 120 stores. Some of the stores include Gap, Reebok, Pepperidge Farm, all at great prices.
What to buy: clothes, shoes, cooking utensils, food, gifts, etc.
