No specific restaurant, but if you're in Indiana, you should definitely try some biscuits and gravy for breakfast! I'm not really sure what part of the country the dish is native to, as we have it in Kentucky as well. Likewise, I've seen it in Kansas and any place that has a farm feel to it! :) Anyway, I mention it here because it was served once a week when I lived in the dorms at Purdue, for breakfast.

And for those of you who don't know what biscuits and gravy is... it's a couple of homestyle biscuits with a white sausage gravy poured on top of them! :) You'll likely only find this at local establishments that have homestyle cooking, or maybe a Bob Evans... and I know Purdue serves it if you go to the Memorial Union. :)

Northside Grill, in lovely Downtown Columbia City.
The atmosphere, takes you back 100 yrs, in a time that relaxing was a daily pleasure. Georgeous antiques, dinner music on Friday evening and Karaoke after 10 pm.

Very inexpensive, for the top quality food.

Favorite Dish: Definately the Caboose sandwich, and the house salad, or many of their creative daily specials.

There are so many, how do I choose. I guess my favorite for a special occasion would be the Eagle's nest in the Hyatt Regency downtown.
Revolving restaurant and lounge at the top of the hotel, with a maganificent view of the downtown skyline, and the white river park.

Favorite Dish: Surf and turf, it isn't on the menu, but you can order it.

    Overlook
The Overlook Restaurant has been in business for over fifty years, giving friendly service and a fantastic view. Located on a bluff above the Ohio River in Leavenworth, Indiana, you can see the magnificent view of the Horseshoe Bend and over 20 miles of the river. See barges churning across the water and the sun setting behind the wooded hills of Kentucky.

During the festivals there are food stands set up throughout all of the little towns. In Bridgeton, there is a little house which serves fantastic perogies. We also had a great meal at the store in the middle of town-they served turkey, mashed potatoes and noodles-all home made. Mansfield has a little stand which makes kettle korn-yum-yum!

    Favorite Dish: See above!

Courtyard Resurant & Hotel in Rising Sun, Indiana
Monte Denbo is your host and has created a magical garden for you to enjoy this little known hotel and resturant. I was originally a chair factory a hundred years ago and is on the banks of the Ohio River in Rising Sun, Indiana. Atmosphere is casual and prices moderate ($8-25). Nice selection of wines, cigars, liquor. Many rooms have a full kitchen and open directly on to the beautiful courtyard and the Ohio River.

Favorite Dish: Fresh fish, great ribs, steaks equal or better than anywhere! Courtyard open air dining and great entertainment on Friday & Saturday evening.

Any small town resturants. You have many Mom and Pop resturants in the local towns. Pass up the fast food and go with a local, I think you will get a happy surprise.
Meet the people, talk with them and find out about their cities

Favorite Dish: Pork, Beef or Chicken all are grown locally. In the Spring go for the frest veggies, wonderful.
