Papa Juans: Best marquaritas in town
Oatlad profile photo
Oatlad 43 reviews

Papa Juan's serves very good marquaritas, and also has an extensive food menu, half Italian and half Mexican. All the food is well prepared and served in generous proportions. There is a large group of friendly locals who make it a fun place to hang out while waiting for your food, watching one of the many TV's or just enjoying a well made cocktail.

Dress Code: No dress code here. You are likely to see bicyclists, motorcyclists, college students, families and people coming in for a cool one on the way home from work.

If you like music, art and theatre that is out of the mainstream, then this is one place you'll want to visit, where you can find all three. This space is run by a non-profit group called Legion Art.

Among many, Ani DiFranco played here before she was famous.

Brewed Awakenings: Accoustic Music

This is a fairly coffee shop which sometimes has live accoustic music. It's across the street from Coe College, the local, private, liberal arts college. So definately a college hang out. It's definately not typical small midwestern city place, more like something I'd expect to find on the west coast.

This club is part of the Long Branch complex, which includes a restaurant and hotel. Mostly area acts play here, but it is usually a good time. The Long Branch has been a live music venue for a few decades.

3rd Street LIVE! is a Cedar Rapids institution. The name has changed many times over the years, but it has been a live music venue for many decades. The Linn County Blues Society has brought in a lot of great blues acts to play there. Rock bands are also often on their roster.
