The Field of Dreams sits on the Lansing family farm. Owned by the same family for the last 95 years, it is not uncommon for members of the family to be seen walking amongst the grounds greeting its visitors who come from literally all over the world. Behind the backstop is a guestbook that everyone is welcome to sign. I noticed entries from as far as Australia and Malaysia. The generosity of the Lansing family cannot possibly be measured. The field requires thousands of dollars annually for maintenance and upkeep and they charge no admission fee to visit. The only income the field generates is from souvenier sales, private donations, and the very pockets of the Lansing family. Despite all of this, the field is still available for all to enjoy. They even allow you to go on the field and play ball and even walk into the cornfields like Ray Liotta did! Every time I watch my Field of Dreams DVD, or when the movie is brought up in conversation, I can always say that I played on that field!

The Field of Dreams is open daily during America's baseball season-April 1 through November 31. Grounds are open from 9am-6pm. Again, the Lansing family will accept donations to contribute to the high costs of maintaining the Field of Dreams but there is NO mandatory admission fee! On some days in the summer, they have orgainzed games that feature the "Ghost Team." As featured in the Academy Award nominated film, the players humbily walk from out of the cornfields and out onto the field and play some games. The Ghost Team has participated in tournaments as far away as Australia and Japan.

Worth to drive a couple of hours from Chicago to see the place where Field of Dreams movie (Kevin Costner et al.) was released. If you close your eyes you can see Shoeless Joe and his pals.
