Cooking from the Heart: Cooking from the Heart Restaurant

A quiet place right on the Courthouse square, next door to Northside Cafe (featured in the movie). Order a pork steak (comes with a soup) and hot tea. Contrary to the official information, the place is open for dinners.

Around since 1876, you can grab a bite to eat at the Norhside Cafe made famous by the movie "The Bridges of Madison County." In the film, Rober Kincaid, the "hippy" from National Geographic, stops for coffee and offers Lucy Redfield, the woman everyone in town was gossiping about, a stool.

You can still take a seat where Clint Eastwood sat--fourth stool from the front of the restaurant!

The Northside Cafe is the quintessential small town cafe, where the locals and movie buffs alike sit for a cup of coffee or a quick bite to eat.

Favorite Dish: It was hard choosing what to eat there, so I opted for a BLT...quite tasty. And I thought Sonic's BLT's were the best. This isn't a fancy schmancy restaurant, more of a down-home cooking kind of place. It was a nice place. My companions had a chef salad (very fresh and satisfying) and a chicken fried steak...It wasn't as good or as big as a Montana Mike's Chicken Fried Steak (see my home page), but he said it was really good.

If you don't like inhaling second hand smoke, the non-smoking section is in the back of the restaurant.
