Council Grove Reservoir is one of many man made lakes in Kansas. It is a great spot for boating or camping or fishing.
Established 1850-1851 by the Methodist Episcopal Church as a mission and school for the Kaw (Kanza) Indians, and now administered as a museum by the Kansas State Historical Society.

Built in 1857 by Tom Hill. The last chance for supplies between Council Grove, Kansas and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
