Instead of a picture of the dam for El Dorado lake I took this picture of the flooded timber near the highway bridge. I see all kinds of birds in this area as I drive over the bridge including bald eagles. The lake is a nice place for picnics, boating, fishing, and BIRDWATCHING.

You can follow the signs for a long drive out to the country to visit this spot. It is the first oil well in the area. There is not a lot to see except the historic marker and the 'nodding donkey' pump.

Rio Park has a BMX bike racing track. There are BMX races most weekends in warm weather. The great thing about this track is that the local youths who are involved in the races built and maintain the track. I went by to see it and four young men were working with shovels to build dirt jump ramps. Go and watch the bicycle races and give a round of applause to some fine young people. It is good to see them do things like this instead of getting in to trouble. Call 322-7772 to find out more about it.

My idea of a nice walk in the country is the Teter nature trail near the dam for El Dorado lake. Part of the trail goes through a paw paw patch. If you have not eaten paw paws before they are very good. To me they taste like a cross between bananas and a kind of custard.

This boy fishing is a sculpture I liked quite a bit. There is a passageway down town with a wall mural made of tiles and more statues. Over head are large wind chimes to play for your ears while your eyes enjoy the works of art.

McDonald stadium is a few blocks north of the Oil Museum. It is being renovated now and work will be completed soon. On completion the El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame will be there and the semi-pro Broncos baseball team will play there.

Some one once said that the game of golf is a nice walk in the country... 'ruined'. If you want to ruin a perfectly nice walk in the country you can do it playing golf here in El Dorado.

Buffalo sculpture. El Dorado has sculptures and museums in town and is trying to be better known for its culture and arts.

This farmer is one of many statues down town. I like the old farmer watching the street in front of him. He reminds me of other old farmers I've known.

El Dorado has many fine parks. They have a linear park system with the parks all connected by bike paths. In this park people were having a class on dog obediance.
