  • Courthouse Square

A visit to days past, one could say. Many of the buildings on the town square date to the 1880s, with the resulting "gingerbread"-type architectural ornamentation. Really charming details, colorfully painted, and very photogenic. Fortunately, only a few of the existing structures bear traces of that abominable 1950s-60s trend to cover the charming...

Located in one of the 1885 storefronts on the courthouse square, Denise's is one of the main spots for the locals to eat. At lunchtime, there is an all you can eat buffet (with the typical midwestern staples of fried chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, etc.) and if you sit at the counter you get a one dollar discount. Friendly staff, treated me like a local.

Favorite Dish: Only ate there once, but had a nice pork tenderloin sandwich and the fries were crispy and flavorful.
