Like most places in Kansas you will need a car to get there.
Many of my favorite things in Lawrence are either down town or on the KU Campus. KU has a bus service and you can get information on the busses there at the KU visitor center. To find out about the busses that run in town get 'The Guide To Ride' brochure at the visitor center in the old depot. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Mass is one of four streets that you'll occasionally hear referred to as 'the square.' The square consists of the major roads the enclose the University of Kansas. Mass is the east edge, 23rd Street ('Hamburger Alley') borders the south, Iowa makes the west edge and 6th Street completes the square on the north side. The two numbered streets are infested with bland strip malls, gas stations and supermarkets. Both Iowa and Mass connect to Interstate 70/Kansas Toll Road across the river at the West and East Lawrence interchanges respectively.
During the six-mile circuit of these four streets (called 'shooting the square') you'll pass through or near Downtown, the University of Kansas and Old West Lawrence. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

On campus, you can get a $20 fine if parked in wrong place. They have kiosks to stop you entering campus during daytime. The main parking lot is on Mississippi and it costs $1 per hour. You are not allowed to travel through campus except with permit, and after hours. Weekends, there is not a charge. Downtown lots are either 2 hours or daily. Lawrence finally has a decent modern bus network after years of depending on rattling antiques borrowed by the university from Wichita. The routes are comprehensive and the service impeccable; I found the drivers exceedingly friendly and helpful. It costs 50 cents for a ride. Leave a Comment

To get here you have to have a car; it's right off I-70, about 30 miles west of Kansas City and 25 miles east of Topeka
Once you're here the best way to get around is by car or bicycle. There is a new public bus system that hits the main locations (downtown and KU campus); I haven't used it yet, but it seems to run well and the buses are new and clean Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
