    Nichols Hall

by yooperprof Written Sep 8, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: While visiting Manhattan, you'll want to take a drive around the KSU campus. Nichols Hall dates from 1911, and originally housed the military science department. (That's probably why it looks like a fortress!)

After a devastating fire in the 1960s, the building was meticulously restored, but I think it now houses the department of Physics.

    donovanel's General Tip

by donovanel Updated Aug 25, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Fondest memory: I had a great time at this little soiree...reminded me of being at a wedding reception--minus the bride and groom! I will always remember constantly walking on the balls of my feet, because my heels kept sinking into the grass! Talk about a creative way to turn the soil!

Favorite thing: Manhattan is a great town with plenty of activity in Aggieville and interesting places to visit. There is so much to do there that I was not able to see all the things the city had to offer. Linear Trail is the city's 10 mile biking and walking trail. Harold M. Freund American Museum of Baking was a stop I did not have time to make. There was not time to play golf at any of the four area golf courses. Saw the Konza prairie but did not hike the trail there. I plan to return to Manhattan again.

Favorite thing: A place called ' Aggieville.' It is a student hangout for all people young at heart.
Manhattan has a lot of Colleges and with it lots of businesses that cater to young people.
I enjoyed the 'Mall' as well.
It is also home to the ' Kansas State Wild Cats' a great college football team
There is also a man made lake (dam) for boating, etc.
For Military interests, there is Fort Riley nearby. An active post.

Fondest memory: Fireworks on the 4th of July,
    Bisons,
    the hot weather,
the nicest and friendliest young people,
    great churches!

During the Renaissance Festival people dress up for that period of time. This is Queen ElizabethI. There are also knights fighting on horses, etc.
