It's a ristorante, a pizzeria, or a deli! Avelluto's has been serving up basic southern Italian for decades in their strip mall location in Mission. The real foodies and cuisine snobs tend to turn up their noses at the Italian Delight and places like it. Maybe they don't like standing in line to place their orders, or choosing from fare that is standard - not fancy. For most of us, however, it's just a great place to eat out without running up our tab at American Express. It's just tasty food!
Pizza lovers take note that this is one of KC's better places to get your thin crust, fold-to-eat type of pizza.
Favorite Dish: My faves: the calzones, the veal parmigiana hero, and artichoke heart salad. All very tasty and very affordable.

first can i say... if you're reading this from the VT Mission page.... there's someone else with a restaurant bit who is describing places in overland park. i'm not trying to be mean or overly critical, but doesn't that negate the point of putting them on your mission page? shouldn't they go on your overland park page instead?
that aside, don chilitos is a nice mexican restaurant which really is in mission. allegedy a friend of mine found a mouse in his food there once, but i've never had a problem. plus most of the time he exagerates anyway.
the food is served in a semi-cafeteria line style, which means you don't have to wait nearly as long. the problem is that if it's a busy night you're standing in a queue forever. solution: don't go on a busy night.

actually i don't know... it's been a while since i was there. probably had the chimichanga since that's what i usually get.

Favorite thing: go wander around hy-vee at three in the morning. it's the best time to do grocery shopping. plus hy-vee isn't just a grocery store. they sell damned near everything. my sister and i and then later my friend austin and i used to go there late at night to wander around. i never said mission was an interesting town.
Fondest memory: various things we did while wandering around hy-vee. i won't tell you - not pq they're bad things but pq they wouldn't interest you. it's the type of stupid stuff that's only fun when you're really close to someone.

i lived in mission for a little over two years. my mother lives there still, although now in a different house. i have to say that mission's not all that bad. it's one of the only cities in johnson......
