  • Old Settlers Day

by Danielletarbaby Updated Feb 19, 2007

Growing up in Olathe, I can tell you this is an event you can't miss if you are in the area. It is full of fun, family, and culture of Olathe. People from all over come to see the parade, which starts the entire event. The parade consists of troups from the local cub scouts and girl scouts, local gymnastics teams (showing off their favorite stunts), and of course the local masons. There is something for everyone at this event, if you are in the area you can't miss it!

    Johnson County Old Settlers Reunion

The Old Settlers Reunion has been a custom since 1898, but of course the "old settlers" have been dead and buried for decades. However, it has become a popular festival with a parade, carnival, numerous booths selling arts and crafts (and junk), musical entertainment, a classic auto show etc. It takes place each September on the Thursday thru Saturday after Labor Day. Olathe's entire downtown is blocked off for the event.
