Yes, the street "Santa Fe" does follow the historic route of the Santa Fe Trail. The Trail originated in Independence MO, passed through Westport, then rose to high ground as it trekked into Kansas.
At the corner of 80th and Santa Fe, in downtown O.P.
Built in 1906, this was the storage shed for the streetcars that ran between the (then) village of Olathe and downtown Kansas City. William Strang operated the "interurban line" until the 1930s.
Now an upscale furniture store.
Favorite thing: I don't know how long this "coach and horses" has been on the southwest corner of 80th and Metcalf - but I remember playing on them when I was a kid!
Favorite thing: Wednesdays and Saturdays, in downtown Overland Park. The central "shed" is in between Marty and Santa Fe, behind the clock tower.
