Local residents gather in at the bandstand in the small park in old downtown Overland Park on Sunday evenings in the months of June, July, and August. Many nights it's the Overland Park Civic Band, other nights they listen to jazz or folk. The evening this photo was taken, the Overland Park Civic Orchestra was playing and some dancing was provided by a local dance studio.
The park is located on Santa Fe Drive, about 81st Street. Concerts begin at 7:00. Bring your lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

A popular activity for OP residents is heading to the old downtown area on Saturday mornings from late spring until fall. Central to the activities there is the outdoor market where regional farmers bring in their best. In addition, there is often musical entertainment and a festive atmosphere. A nice outing for the whole family, or hanging out solo.
