Il Vicino, Wichita

Another great Italian place in Wichita is Il Vicino, an interesting place located centrally, just a few blocks north of Kellogg on Douglas. Il Vicino is a bit different from other dining experiences because you stand in line (and the line can be pretty long at times) to place your order, then sit down and wait for your food to be brought to you. The menu is fairly limited, but what they do offer is excellent, especially items that are baked in their wood-fired oven. This place can get pretty crowded because it's so popular, but tables seem to turn over relatively quickly.

This is probably the closest thing to real Italian pizza I've found anywhere in the United States! The atmosphere is great, too. You can watch your pizza being prepared in the wood-fired oven.
