Be very careful when driving out of Campton towards Hazel Green. The road is very narrow, very curvy, and people drive really fast. Occasionally you will even encounter a coal truck. Especially in the places where you don’t want to see one.

More of a danger to farmers than anyone else. Kudzu. The wild, wacky vine that likes to cover everything. It’s not even native to Campton. Or Wolfe County. Or Kentucky. Or even the United States. Someone brought it over because they thought it was pretty. Now it covers everything. And it’s almost impossible to get rid of.

Favorite thing: What cracks me up about documentaries and movies portraying Eastern Kentucky is that they only show the trailers and shacks and poverty. They never show the mansions next door. There are some huge, beautiful houses in the area that are very historical. This one sets in downtown Campton.
