For dinner, Shoneys has a great menu of "american" food.
Burgers, Sandwiches, Fish and Chicken Strips, Chicken Breast, Steaks, Chef Salads.
You can also choose from a limited selection of seafood items, spaghettis and soups.

We had the Southern Fried Chicken Salad with homestyle soup-of-the-day and coffee and apple crisp for dessert. Delicious, filling and left me money in the wallet.
The two of us ate for about $15 plus tip. (2003).

The decor is booths and tables, upscale diner with plenty of red coloring, like all the other Shoneys we have been in. The waiteress was nice but we picked a busy time (and they appeared to be missing a busboy) so the waitresses were also cleaning tables and that slowed down the service a bit. We were not in a big hurry anyways.

This place has a bakery and a diner.

The bakery specializes in delicious hot bread but also has bagels, danish, muffins and sweet pasteries.
I am partial to the brownies and my wife likes the cheese pockets.

The diner is fairly small, open space with round tables (four chairs). Utilitarian decor.
The menu has an eclectic selection of soup and sandwiches, paninis, crispanis, and fresh salad.
I go for the smokehouse turkey cut into four triangles. My wife likes the broccoli-cheddar soup with asian chicken salad.

The prices were a bit more expensive than the other diners in the area but the food was very good and the service was fast and friendly.

barbecued ribs

can you say bahr bee cue..... That is what the name of the place is and that is what it specializes in. Ribs' juice on the fingers and chin is a sure sign that they are good ribs.
And they also had some good "sweet tea" and bakery goods for dessert.

Price is cheap (and so is the decor). If you like ribs and you are in Frankfort, you gotta stop here for lunch or diner. Dress casual.

After we went around the exhibits in the Frankfort Historical Society Museum, I asked one of the docents for a recommendation for lunch. She told us about Gibby's, so we walked down the street to have lunch.

I had a small apple waldorf salad ($1.95) and a three cheese sandwich ($4.50). I also got a small drink, thinking that I would get root beer. But they were out of root beer and also out of unsweetened tea, so I had a mixture of lemonade and sweet tea. Bob got a 1/4 lb. chili dog and fries.

Voted Best of Frankfort: Jackye was voted best Server of Frankfort, works at the Candleberry Tea Room. Voted best atmosphere and best caterer. Candleberry Candles were voted best locally made products.

Many shops and restaurants line the old buildings of St. Clair Street.

Unfortuntely I didn't have the time or money to stop, but somebody was fix up some tasty smellin' barbeque pork with a sweet sauce. I know my barbeque.

Harry's Cafe is my favorite downtown restaurant for good old fashioned homecooked food such as fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried fish, real mashed potatoes and gravy and iced tea. This is a small cafe with just a few tables. Food is served buffet style or you can order a catfish to be cooked on order. Yum. Save room for cobler. This is not the place to go if you want to avoid fat.

All the food is good, but I particularly like the fish and porkchops if they haven't been sitting on the buffet table too long.

I have tried a Mexican restaurant but their air conditioner was off and the food was not great.

I also tried Chilis and it was good -- but that is a chain.

I need to do more exploring.
