    Completely Kentucky: Kentucky Potpourri

by davecallahan Written Feb 22, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    treasure or junk

It wasn't exactly completely Kentucky because I did not see the kitchen sink for sale but they had just about everything else.

Figurines, knick-knacks, salt-pepper sets, wooden carvings, jams/jellies, sauces, beverages, pies, cheeses, coffees, ornamented glasses and mugs, sausages, candies, kettlecorn, nuts, lamps, picture frames, stained glass, planters, candles, etc., but no kitchen sink.
The kind of place my wife loves because she can browse for hours and never have to make up her mind what to buy. Personally, I get antsy in places like this because it is just so much clutter to me. But if you want a unique gift that says "KENTUCKY" loud and clear, then this is the place to shop.
You can buy individual items at their retail prices (a bit high I thought but I have Scottish heritage) or you can have them put together a basket of gifts for a tad more.

So if you like shopping and you are in the Frankfort area and you have an hour or two to spare, then spend it here (and they will gladly take Visa or MasterCard).

I travel around Kentucky and go to thrift stores. While in Frankfort i came upon this very unique consignment store called Family tree consignment. I LOVED IT!!
this store has a little bit of everything and at great deals. The other consignment/thrift stores in Frankfort don't even compare to this little unique store. While I found the other shops to be to pricey or to cluttered and to much junk. This shop was like a breath of fresh air. I encourage everyone to stop by this store and see what they have to offer! I will shop their again. www.familytreeconsignment.com

What to buy: This shop had a verity of clothing items as well as very nice unique hard to find furniture. I saw several pier one items at about half of what they sell for. I also saw a good verity of framed Paul sawyer prints. Just a wonderful experience!

What to pay: They had items from $.50 to $250.00 I am sure that anyone can find a deal.

    Completely Kentucky: Downtown Frankfort

    by Ky_Happy_Dad Written Sep 23, 2005

Completely Kentucky is a good place to buy a craft made in Kentucky. While downtown, you can look at new and used books at Poor Richard's bookstore, drink coffee at the nearby coffee shop, or visit the nearby antique stores. This is also just across the street from the historic old capitol building and near the wonderful history center, recently renamed in honor of Kentucky's foremost historian Thomas Clark, who recently died just before the building was to be dedicated to him as he celebrated his 100th birthday. If you can't make it downtown, a smaller version of the Completely Kentucky store is in the basement of the new capitol near the tunnel to the capitol annex.

What to buy: Kentucky has good handmade crafts in Berea, Louisville, and other locations including pottery, woodwork, handcarved canes, and quilts and woolen goods. The advantage of coming to Completely Kentucky is you can se all these things in one place.

What to pay: Good crafts are expensive, but you can also find some less expensive items.
