    Lincoln Marriage Temple

    by butterflykizzez04 Written Jul 29, 2014

Tony, Noel and I stopped at the Fort Harrodsburg Historical Park and inside the walls of park is the Lincoln Marriage Temple. It is a brick church on the outside, but on the inside is an actual full size log cabin. The log cabin is the cabin that they were married in. They were married in the actual church, but the log cabin inside of the church.

Some history I found on the internet to share about the site:
Lincoln Marriage Temple holding the log cabin in which Abraham Lincoln's parents were married in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. A brick building with few windows, and a steeple, near large trees. On back of image: "Harrodsburg - Memorial bldg which houses log cabin in which Abraham Lincoln's father and mother were married." Lincoln's parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks
The wedding took place on June 12, 1806 and was conducted by the Reverend Jesse Head. The cabin was the first home of Thomas and Nancy Lincoln and was known in pioneer days as the Richard Berry Cabin. It was located in Beechland, Washington County, Ky. The cabin was acquired by the Harrodsburg Historical Society. It was presented to them by William A. Clements..

It doesn't cost anything to enter into the park itself. The church is free to explore the log cabin. You only have to pay to tour the museum or the actual Fort itself. So go and enjoy the piece of history in our backyard. It is worth the trip. Located only about 2 1/2 hrs from Nashville.

I love going there i have a membership and it is only $4 to get in if u dont have one. This has a great area for kids a diving board area and a 4 ft area and they also have a huge yellow water slide that you can go down. They have a concession stand and a place to eat your food i am sure you would enjoy this pool. Located at anderson dean community park. A photograph of the inside of a cabin within the Fort. This is an insight into the way the early pioneers lived their lives back in the 1780's.
