Munfordville is a town of about 1500 located in Central Kentucky. The town was originally named Big Buffalo Crossing but was renamed after Richard Jones Munford who donated land for the development of the town in 1816. There was a battle fought here in 1862 during the Civil War. Munfordville is the county seat of Hart County, which was named after War of 1812 Kentucky Militiaman, Nathaniel G. T. Hart. Hart County is a dry county meaning the sale of alcohol is prohibited within county lines.
