This place has a little something for everyone to do. Restaurants, bars, game area, shops, movie cinema and occasioanlly live entertainment. If you are in Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky you should come take a look.
OH SO SWEET! They have an array of candies made right there in the store. There were several samples out for a person to try. I then was able to get my gifts for my kids - something that isn't going to sit on the shelf gathering dust - and not spend my life savings doing it. The woman even wrapped it up for me, that way it made it home too :)
This is a shopping mall and more. The theater is in this building as well as the Newport Aquarium.
We had a good time shopping in Tala's Distant Treasures. This place has fun things from all over the world. They also have a note up that says that the items were purchased at a fair price from the people who made them. Personally I have a problem when someone is making 1000% profit off the backs of someone, so the fact that it was done at a fair price is important.
Art on the Levee had a great selection of different kinds of art. My friend purchased a print of a cat there that she loves.
We then stopped for a beer at Claddagh Irish Pub. They had a good selection of different beers, ales and even an English beer on draft. We sat on the patio over looking the water and it was so beautiful. The waiter left something to be desired. I had to ask him for things multiple times before getting what I needed.
This is the finest aquarium in the Midwest. It has examples of many habitats, from the coral reefs to the Amazon to African rivers to the swamps of Louisiana to the Ohio River. It also has fine collections of reptiles and amphibians. So much to see!
This is Newport's premier attraction. If you have time for just one thing, then this should be it.
You can easily spend a couple of hours touring this aquatic wonderland. Especially interesting is the shark tunnel. the guide told us the sharks were actually much larger than they appeared looking through the thick glass.
BB Riverboat cruises offer a one hour sightseeing cruise from the Newport dock. we opted for the top deck but the main deck was enclosed and air conditioned. the captain explained the sights along the cruise and gave us a history of the Ohio River and Cincinnati area.
The aquarium was great. It was a little pricey, but they do have $1 AAA discount and family hours where kids get in free (check their website for details). http://www.newportaquarium.com/
Their displays are really nice and they mix them up so your not just looking at lots of square fish tanks. They also have a wide variety of animals, some I have never seen before.
Definitely recommend going early to beat the crowds. We went at 9:30 and enjoyed most of it without screaming children.
We are looking forward to going back and enjoying more of the activities at the levy.
We enjoyed the many displays of sea life in the Newport Aquarium. While we've seen the awesome aquarium in Baltimore, MD, this is a nice place to visit if you are in the area and are looking for something to do. Their turtle exhibits were very nice, as was the shark tank exhibit. They have a new sea otter area and a lorikeet "cage" where you can enter, hold, and feed the lorikeets. They'll stand on your shoulder, hand, or head. Just be careful as what they do eat eventually goes somewhere....
AAA has discount tickets, but the regular rate is $18 for adults, 10.95 for children.
Here is the perfect place to shop, browse, eat, drink, and just watch people go by. It also offers some fine views of Cincinnati, across the Ohio River.
