The beautiful hills of eastern Kentucky are all summed up here in the Prestonsburg's Jenny Wiley Lake area. The lake glistens in the setting sun and includes many activities in the general area. Golf, warm season amphitheater, fishing, hiking and boating are among those family filled adventures. It even has a chair lift up the mountain over looking the lake.

The East Kentucky Science Center is a private, non-profit education organization devoted to providing science learning opportunities to students, teachers, and the East Kentucky community.
Right now in the Planetaruim they are featuring a show called "Sky Quest". You follow a young woman’s journey to becoming an astronomer. From her travels in a cardboard rocket as a child, to the observatory she built to observe the heavens as an adult, share in her growing fascination with the stars. It is narrated by Roxann Dawson (Balana) of Star Trek: Voyager. Yes people, I am a trekkie. :)
Lasers shows set to rock music are always going on.
Lots of cool summer camps are always taking place here too. This year they are offering camp topics such as Astronaut for a day, become a pirate of the Big Sandy, spend your second year at Frogwarts or learn how to solve a crime.

Surrounded by local high school and college memorabilia you are warmly greeted with "have a seat where ever you can find one" by some one smiling. This could be a waitress or a customer as everyone knows everyone else and practically grew up at Billy Ray's. The menu features a daily "Blue Plate Special" that tops all others I've had in the country.
Favorite Dish: The menu includes all the favorites but don't leave before trying the infamous "Pool Room" hamburger...I especially like it with a sprinkle of black pepper, mustard and onions.....yummmmmmy!

The Jenny Wiley Caves near Paintsville are worth seeing. It is thought that Jenny was held captive there for almost a year. Of course you need to know the history of Jenny Wiley to make it worth while.
