As anywhere in the USA, fast food can be found all over the place. The ones we like most a Fazoli's, Wendy, Bob Evans, Kracker Barrel ens.
Some fine local restaurants are to be found too and especially the Amish people run a few excellent restaurants. Enjoy.
Favorite Dish: My favorite is spare ribs !!!!

OK this place looks like it should be burnt to the ground, and by the amount of grease on everything I'm surprised it hasn't! But the long red shotgun style building of Carr's Barn chow is excellent, and the ham is worth the trip alone. If you can overlook the fact that this place couldn't pass a health code I'm guess the inspector leave it open because the food is so good. The daly special is cheap, under US$5 bucks and the drinks are bottomless. Everything is homemade and fresh daily, good service and great conversation you'll get a good meal at a good price.
Favorite Dish: The HAM ... buy it by the pound, US$5.50/lbs. It's sweet, juicy, smoked and full of flavor.

Address: Mayflower hotel on ormsby, downtown
The food here is VERY traditional, southern, Kentucky-style, country cooking. The food is pretty good though, and I've been here twice with my grandparents (they love this place). So, if you want something authentic, check this place out. AND, to boot, it's in an old, historic mansion, across the street from My Old Kentucky Home.
Favorite Dish: the silver-dollar-sized pancake biscuits that are served before the meal

Really neat Irish Pub atmoshphere. The food is excellent, and I'm sure the Guinness is too! :) There was also live music when I was there, so it was a fun place. And the dress is casual. I ate at this place with a friend of mine... good call John195123! :)
Favorite Dish: beef boxty or perhaps, fish n chips

My favorite restaurants in Louisville are Jack Fry's, Timmothy's, Vincenzo's (wonderful italian) and the Vietnam Kitchen. The later is an unassuming small restaurant in a strip mall, but it is very authentic with great food. To see more restaurant reviews in the Louisville area see the Louisville Courier Journal's webpage: www.Louisvillescene.com.
Favorite Dish: Don't miss the spicy soup at the Vietnam Kitchen and the iced coffee.

Kentucky has many excellent restaraunts, but my personal favorite is Moonlight barbeque. It's located in Owensboro, KY. They have the best barbeque I've ever tasted!
Another great thing about Moonlight BBQ is the homestyle sides they have. They have everything you could want. They have homemade potato salad, BBQ baked beans, greens, macaroni and cheese, cooked apples, and my favorite, homemade broccoli and cheese. They also have a wonderful dessert selection with pies, cakes, ice cream, custards, fruit salads, and of course, fruit cobblers!
Favorite Dish: The best item on the menu would have to be the barbeque mutton. It's so tender and juicy it almost melts in your mouth.
