Tourist Traps

Not any!

Smithland has no tourist traps. This not a regular tourist town. We have events from time to time and there are historical tours on occasion but for the most part, we're just an old sleepy river town.

Mini-tractor pulling has made a bigger splash than I thought it would. I don't know how wide spread the sport is, but it has really grown in Livingston County. A group of interested overgrown kids (a.k.a. adults) wanted to have some fun and started taking old lawn tractors and modifying them to pull a weighted sled. The competition grew and instead of using a vacant lot for the pulls, the old baseball field was converted into a site for weekly pulling events. People from all over the area started building tractors for the mini-pull and things just took off. Contestants come from all age groups! It's great fun to watch the little kids pull.

Equipment: Bring your own seating and snacks. A concession stand will most likely be open but be prepared. Don't forget the insect repellant, sunglasses, hat or cap. You may also want earplugs or muffs.

This is a dry county! No alcohol allowed! (Okay, I said it; now use your best judgment ;))
