  • Antique shops in downtown Paducah

    Paducah Shopping

Paducah is the antiques capital of Western Kentucky. Downtown Paducah is full of antique shops featuring everything from fine furniture to collectibles. The are at least a dozen shops within a ten square block area around Broadway and Market Square. The nice thing about antiquing in Paducah is that there are a number of bars and restaurants in the...

Sort of hard to find...off the main drag...but we found it. I had a blow out on the Bluegrass Parkway so we had to get off at Bardstown to get the tire replaced at WalMart..3 hrs wait time on a crowded Sunday...After we got the tire fixed..I pulled up my Yelp app on my cellphone and did a search for Pizza in the area, and woot woot..it directed me...

    Bardstown Favorites

I love to take photos of historic buildings and identify them with their histories. I was disappointed in the State Park because photography wasn't allowed and I thought the connection with Stephen Foster was tenuous at best. Although it was very cold, I did wander around the Bardstown Historic District, which is a registered historic district on...

  • Stop for a beer and a bite.

    Covington Restaurants

Restaurant is a small place that happened to be located right across the street from the Holiday Inn. We went over and grabbed a sandwich and a couple of beers. The menu is limited, mainly subs, wings and pizza, but everything was good. There were many choices of beers - all of which were nice and cold on a hot day. Our waitress / bartender was very...

    Covington Restaurants

We stopped at Otto's, arriving barely a half hour before they closed after lunch. Our server was friendly and, although we stayed well into their "dinner prep" time, did not try to hurry us. I ordered the TURKEY CRANBERRY ($8), an incredibly delicious sandwich of oven roasted turkey, smoked gouda, and cranberry sauce on a warm baguette. It came...

  • Car Museum

    Elizabethtown Things to Do

The best thing about this museum....it's free. It does have some interesting array of antique vehicles and a car enthusiast would likely take several hours here drooling over their Model A or old Thunderbird. It was interesting as a side trip on the way back to our hotel.

  • Brown Pusey House

    Elizabethtown Things to Do

Not necessarily a remarkable historic home but the people working there were not only very accomodating they took a remarkable amount of time answering questions from my second grader which was very unusual to find people so patient with younger children. This home has different events housed in it and isn't really setup for tours so I wouldn't put...

Carter Caves State Resort Park What to Pack

If you are staying in the cottages, tent camping, or RV-ing, make sure you have enough food and drink for your stay. The lodge does have refrigerators and coffee pots in each room, but no microwave. Basic food CAN be purchased in the campground store and is very expensive. We were able to buy a bottle of barbecue sauce (which we forgot to bring...
