The Audubon State Historic Site preserves the Oakley Plantation House and a lush area of Louisiana bayou country. John James Audubon came here in 1821 and studied birds, plants and other life in the area. He did a number of his famous drawings here. Begin your visit at the visitors center. Here you will pay the entrance fee of $4 (as of February 2013) and make reservations for a tour of the main house.
