The ambience is cozy, softly lit, romantic. The waiters were friendly and courteous and the service was very prompt. It's one of those places that has everything except the requirement to dress formally. I was very comfortable there.

They offer everything from seafood to steaks, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes. The menu isn't large, but the choices are varied and so far everything I've eaten there has been absolutely delicious. The pork chops I ordered were enough for two men lol and came with delicious red-skin 'smashed' potatoes with roasted garlic, summer squash, and a soft, warm croissant, all preceded by a delicious salad of field greens, crunchy chinese noodles, and slivered almonds with a balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious! Of course, what Paul had was equally wonderful but I refrained from sneaking food off his plate. We started with a nice wine and ended with a succulent dessert.

  • There are many GREAT restaurants in Baton Rouge, but if you want really good Cajun food, try Brunet's Cajun Restaurant. It is owned and operated by a real 'Cajun Family'. You can't make a bad choice from the menu. The poboys are heaped full of shrimp, oysters, catfish, etc. They also have platters with all your favorites. During crawfish season you have to have a platter of boiled crawfish. They are the best in town. They even have Cajun bands come in to play. If you are there in the daytime, tell the bartender 'Tootie' that Beth says Hi.
The prices are quite reasonable and the people are friendly. Don't forget the Cajun music too.

This is a hard one. Everything is great. I guess I would have to say the Crab Platter. There are many different flavors to this because crab is fixed about five different ways.

  • It is an old house in Capital Heights that has been turned into a restaurant. Very much a bistro, you can sit inside or out, they occasionally have live music, and it's probably the best place in town to get a Croque Monsieur for lunch.

Byronz has some good food but I've got to say that the Bistro Salad is on the top of my list.... and I'm not that much of a salad perons. Talk about good stuff... Mandarin oranges, dried cherries & pecans on spinach with a rasberry poppy seed dressing. YUM!
