  • A good restaurant and one of the few places in Baton Rouge with some neat-ness. Don't forget to cross the street and get your get-up from Perk's Coffee.

They have a seared tuna salad with blue cheese that hits the spot! Not always consistent though.

First, I have not been here. So, I am reporting a second-hand story from my roommate. The reason for this is that he told me this place is really cool and I thought would be worth telling VT about. The coolness comes from the fact that you are eating while watching fish and sharks swim in a 107,000 gallon tank in the middle of the restaurant! So, if you aren't the great conversationalist and are on a first date, maybe you should come here!

My friend said the Tilapia was out of this world.

The owners of this place do a great job of hiring. The sevice is always good, with the staff being upbeat and funny. Calzones, pizzas, pastas, antipastas, etc. are the order of theday at this place. Great meal and service for a great price. Since I have moved from Baton Rouge, they have started hosting live music and wine-tasting events. All of these things can be found on their website (address below).

    Other locations include:
    250 West Lee Drive - (225) 757-3877
    11567 Mercantile Drive - (225) 756-2400
    9634 Airline Highway - (225) 927-2762
    13686 Coursey Boulevard - (225) 755-0977

The Super-Deluxe Calzone is my favorite, by far. It has pepperoni, oven roasted Italian sausage, onion slices, green peppers, banana peppers, fire roasted red bell peppers , all for $8.95. I hate mushrooms, but they normally come on this dish.

This is one of the very few places one can experience Indian cuisine in Baton Rouge.

I believe this one is part of a small chain.

Typically, most patrons take advantage of the generous buffet, available every day.

The Tandoori chicken and the curries.

This is where me and my entire family had my graduation dinner. This follows after I had eaten there for my friends graduation dinner the semester before. Both times I was floored by the food. Absolutely amazing dishes. Be prepared to spend $25-35 on your food (with appetizers). Throw in wine and you could be looking at a heafty bill, but once again, if you can it is worth it!

The smoked chicken, duck , and andouille gumbo is the best "appetizer" I have ever had. I normally follow the credo of eating the type of food the restaurant is know for, i.e. eat fish in a seafood place. But, I tasted the steak at my friend's dinner, and when it came time to my celebration, I was salivating weeks prior to the meal with the thoughts of the New York Strip steak. It did not disappoint! The veal is also one of their great dishes. Itruely think you cannot go wrong ordering at this place.

Louie's is a 24 hour diner right outside the gates of LSU, and another of the musts for all LSU students. I usually eat there for breakfast at about 3 am... well, dancing makes you hungry. Baton Rouge has a couple of late night options, but this one stands out! You will probably have to wait a while if you go there at 2 am on a friday or saturday night, but the wait doesn't ever seem long.

My sister absolutely loves the shrimp poboy, and I am a fanatic for the hash browns - you have to try them, they are big chunks of potato and are awesome. The banana pancakes are really great too.

Run by a friendly family from New Jersey, this sidewalk cafe is quite popular with the downtown lunch crowd.

Everything is good really - pizza, sandwichwes, pasta, muffalettas.
