Juban’s is easily the fanciest restaurant on my list, but isn't that expensive, especially if you don't drink wine with your dinner.
Favorite Dish: Juban's is a Creole Restaurant. I've only been a few times, so I don't have a favorite yet.

I went to Drusilla's for prom *sigh* with 27 other people... we got our own private room. Maybe one day I will scan in a picture from that event On the other hand, you can go in wearing jeans and you are ok. The food is great and once again, reasonably priced (I'm a college student, ok?)
Favorite Dish: Seafood, of any kind, except I'm not wild on eggplant, but Mom LOVE's the Seafood Eggplant Casserole

Famous around Baton Rouge, Rasin' Cane's is a local fast food joint pioneered by some (at the time) LSU students. The perfect for after you go out... but if you eat here, you will have consumed enough fat grams to last through the winter! Really, I can't eat there anymore... I overdid it when I was a freshman in college.
Favorite Dish: Chicken... Fried. It's all they have. ask for, the box... replace the coleslaw for some extra texas toast, or some canes sauce (everyone loves the sauce)

The have a bar and dance floor with live music (wed and sat nights) in part of the restaurant. The dance floor can get crowded though! Not a franchise. I really like this place, and the prices are very reasonable.
Favorite Dish: Delicious seafood and Louisiana cooking! Honestly, almost everything here is good... hush puppies come with your meal.

Highland Coffee's - not a restaurant, but a coffee house
Close to the LSU campus, highland coffees is a good place to study, relax, or play a game of chess. And also, almost always there is some sort of art on display... my friend Lisa had a photo exhibit there not too long ago.
Favorite Dish: Unfortuantely, you can't get beignets here, but you can get some delicious cakes and great hot tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.

Louie's is a diner just outside the LSU campus and is frequented by students and faculty. The atmosphere is extremely informal and fun, and the food is a rich but special :-) A lot of food at very very reasonable prices..
Favorite Dish: Their hashbrowns! Dont be surprised at the size of each portion!

There are many GREAT restaurants in Baton Rouge, but if you want really good Cajun food, try Brunet's Cajun Restaurant. It is owned and operated by a real 'Cajun Family'. You can't make a bad choice from the menu. The poboys are heaped full of shrimp, oysters, catfish, etc. They also have platters with all your favorites. During crawfish season you have to have a platter of boiled crawfish. They are the best in town. They even have Cajun bands come in to play. If you are there in the daytime, tell the bartender 'Tootie' that Beth says Hi.
The prices are quite reasonable and the people are friendly. Don't forget the Cajun music too.
Favorite Dish: This is a hard one. Everything is great. I guess I would have to say the Crab Platter. There are many different flavors to this because crab is fixed about five different ways.
