Not quite a must see for me, but if you like to go ANTIQUING (buying antiques), Denham Springs is the place to go. There are many many many shops to go to in an area known as 'Antique Village'
I've heard that you can find some good buys. Just remember that you have to find a way to get all of this stuff home with you!

When we asked about a place to eat, the girl at the counter at the Hampton Inn gave us directions which were imperfect - she said to go past the Walmart to the next shopping plaza, and there wasn't one. We got waylaid by a lot of construction and commuters returning home, and it was really dark.
After we found our way back to the interstate, we ate at Fernando's which was right near the hotel.
Favorite Dish: They had a special with a sample plate at the front door for 2 burritos which I thought was a neat way to do it. I got chili relinos and a fried ice cream. They claimed that they really fried it, but it was all cold.

We asked the girl at the desk where to eat and she gave us a number of recommendations, including Don's Seafood Hut, which was almost right next to the hotel. It had a blown up crawfish on the roof. Apparently this is one of several Don's in Louisiana.
They have:
To Go/Take Out Orders
Catering and Party Trays
Children's Menu
Wine and Liquor
Steaks, Seafood Platter, Crab Fingers, Raw & Charbroiled Oysters
Non Smoking Areas
Lunch, and Dinner Hours
Sunday-Thursday 11:00am-10:00pm,Friday & Saturday 11:00am-11:00pm
Favorite Dish: Bob had his raw oysters again (which he said were very good and big and a dozen was just $7.25), and then a boiled shrimp dinner with corn on the cob and a baked potato. He said the shrimp were just boiled with no seasoning. I had crawfish gumbo, and crabmeat au gratin which was excellent. I had bread pudding for dessert and Bob had an enormous hot fudge brownie sundae.

Denham Springs is named after some natural mineral springs in the area. You can see some in Spring Park (off River Road in Denham). The history, taken from http://www.livingstonparish.com/springs.htm, is very interesting. Ground-water springs which some to the surface at the base of the low- lying ridge which runs through the center of the city have figured in the city's name since at least the 1850's. The area has been known as Amite Springs, Hill's Springs, and Denham Springs... A popular belief, supported by previously published histories, is that William Denham discovered the mineral springs on his property and that a health resort quickly grew up there. This belief defies logic, however, considering the number of springs which may be found in this area even today, and the length of time that elapsed before Denham arrived on the scene. No doubt that early residents of the area depended on the springs for drinking water.

Fondest memory: I can't have a picture of one nephew without including the other. This is also at the park - a favorite Birthday Party destination for my neffews. Brock's favorite color is blue, but he wore green just for Dakota (the birthday boy).
