There are a lot of good places to eat: Homefolks, A.W.'s, Deville Diary Corner, and Paul's Grocery. Good food at a great price. Local delicacies would be fried fish, chicken gizzards, shrimp, swamp rabbit sauce pequante, and chicken fried steak. A lot of it is fresh. Especially during spring when the animals are twitterpated. The cross the road alot during that time and...bam! Fresh meat. Or you could just order a hambuger, french fries, and a delecious malt to wash it all down. But that's no fun now is it? That's all frozen stuff that they reheat. Atleast that's what maw says.
Favorite Dish: Squirrel Gumbo and biscuits with neutra rat gravy. It's just good.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Alexandria-Pineville, but if you're having a lively backyard gathering and you just want to bring back something for dinner, Deville's got you covered with local cuisine to go.
Favorite Dish: Home Folks Drive Inn Diner has local food like fried catfish and meat pies. The spices in the batter make it surprisingly good, much tastier than what you'd expect from a take-out window! In fact, the fried food we ate the following evening at a sit-down restaurant called Paparoux's in Pineville (where this picture was taken) seemed absolutely bland by comparison. Be sure to check these little places out! The area convenience stores typically offer boudin balls, chicken kebabs and other local spicy goodies. I particularly remember one store on Route 115 at a gas station that had some great takeout. Don't be afraid to sample local cuisine!
