Favorite thing: When visiting Lafayette you must go to Randols for the food and music, its a little touristy, but its a must. Don's Seafood is a big must for the food.
Take a boat tour: www.angelleswhiskeyriver.com 'Gateway to the Atchafalia Basin'.
Lake Martin is also an excellent place to visit.
Fondest memory: The people are great, really friendly will show you where to visit etc
....& of course Le Festival International 2000

Favorite thing: You have to come to Lafayette during one of the many outdoor festivals. My favorite is Festival International which takes place the last week in April. Musicians, dancers and artists from many foreign countries come to Lafayette where they perform for free. Usually the performers are from the French, Spanish or Portuguese speaking areas of Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Europe. Also lots of local Cajun and Zydeco music. Lots of food, beer, dancing and people watching!
Fondest memory: I love winter in Lafayette. One day it could be 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius)and you are having a cook-out by the pool. The next day it could be 40 degrees and you can light a fire in the fireplace. It goes back and forth all winter long. Winters are mild and wild! So much to do and not get all sweaty!
