uhh...there is a hoppin' gay bar in downtown monroe, but last I heard it had moved so I can't give an exact location.......there is a hoppin' alpha male drunk girl frat like I-'m-gonna-kick-your-ass-for-lookin'-at-my-girlfriend dance club near the university on DeSiard called "Cooter Bay". "Cooter" means turtle before somebody freaks out...oh yeah, there is a laundry next door to wash the blood from your nose afterwards.........hmm...Airport Bar can be fun actually...................There are some predominantly...oh who am I kiddin'....totally black clubs in downtown monroe and HWY 165 South, but I only know one well and it has closed...alas......stick to my restaurant list and stay there and drink...that is my suggestion....oh yeah, there are some good country bars in W.M., but they close at midnight and fighting is usually the norm..

It is literally in the same building as a gas station (and I think a bank?) which I find very "Monroe". In spite of this oddity, you can really get some decent grub in a nice dark atmosphere. Escape the heat and enjoy some Monroe murals on the walls of this North Monroe hang out.
Dress Code: none......

Well, it is 10pm, your host for the weekend tells you there is no place to go hang out for the evening... what do you do?
Go to the closest restaurant and make friends with the waitstaff to stay there. We went into el Chico, which is a Tex-Mex restaurant by trade, but does have a nice little bar area. They also had a drink special on margaritas and draft beers, buy one get one free.
We took advantage of it and had some fun for an hour or so.
