Go down to the waterfront, which is located on the other side of a seawall at the old town of Morgan City. We were there on New Year's Day, so all we saw were the docked fishing fleet. Elsewhere around town are various places where crawfish, frog legs, and catfish are sold at bargain prices.
What to buy: Shrimp at $3- per pound from what we were told at Susie's Seafood. Crab, Shrimp, Oysters, and whatever else the fisherman haul in with their nets and lines. What they catch is the best of the Mexican Gulf area, no doubt about it. See my restaurant tip for the evidence.
What to pay: $3- per pound for huge sized shrimp, so I'm told. Go down to the port and see what happens.
