Ye Olde Original Dungeon: So chill for the anti-Bourbonites
So we did the requisite stroll down Bourbon. Not impressed. Decided to look for something a bit more relaxed. We stumbled upon The Dungeon & went there every night for the remaining 4 nights...the bartenders were awesome, for the most part, the folks who went there were decent - a few Bourbon St drunkards, wandered in, squinted, made some non-sensical comment and rolled back out.
I really enjoyed how nice folks were.
& we rocked the pool table. Can't wait to get back there...
Dress Code: It's called "Ye Olde Original Dungeon"...
The decor is goth, but it's New Orleans, so whatever...wear what you want, just don't be a tool.
Dungeon: In case you didn't know about B and D
Sometimes (you will have to check) various dominatrix groups throw parties here, chain people to the walls and whip them. It's not totally a New Orleans thing, but it is part of the culture and this is a safe enough place to check it out.
Dress Code: Leather? Chaps? A catwoman outfit? You won't be turned down wearing any of these although a good Robert Smith costume will get you blending in with local goths.

Dungeon: New Dungeon more spacious than old...
The Dungeon has a new place and it's right next to the old place and even better, it's open during the day. It's still dark, weird and has a great jukebox. The drink, witches brew is very good if you're going to stick with the fruity drink theme. The odd characters are here and interesting to watch also. The hosts from haunted tours hang out there and try to act cool, however, after seeing them at the same place (old vs new) doing the same thing, it gets a little old and then you realize why you're glad you don't actually live in NO but only visit.
Watch your purse, the chatty guy next to me lifted 2 fifties out of my wallet.
Dress Code: Absolutely NO dress code, the darker the better.
Dungeon: Industrial music in the quarter.
I walked past this place and stopped...walked back, and sure enough I did hear this place playing Skinny Puppy! Cool! This is the only place I've heard non typical music in the quartier. It was awesome!
The place is smallish and just off Bourbon street. I was too drunk to remeber bar name *and* street name. Gimme a break damnit! :)
