Funky Butt, New Orleans
Don't let the name of this place scare you away... haha.
This place came recommended, once again, by our gracious bed and breakfast hosts. They are obviously local and like to send their patrons to places a little less touristy. The Funky Butt was just that. All I can say abou this place is: MELLOW.
The things that stand out in my memory about this place is the color red (the wall color), darkness piecred by candlelight, a very chill atmosphere, and a funny damn logo.
The genre of jazz played here changes nightly, but I ended up going on a night when it was just low key and smooth. So smooth in fact that I just sat there with my drink in the candlelit room on the second floor and my mind drifted away! Total relaxation.
Now rumor has it that this place can rock too, I just didn't happen to hit it on a rockin' night. All in all it was still a good place to hit. If you love Jazz this place should be a Must See in your list, right next to Preservation Hall.
Dress Code: Chill.....
Not a bad place to catch some local talent, mostly jazz.
Dress Code: bring yo' dancin' shoes...actually, the crowd tends to be mellow at times.
