Maple Leaf Bar: Weeknight Standard - Golden Grooves
One of my favorite places to see live music in New Orleans (which is just about my favorite thing to do here). The prices have gone up, by NOLA standards, but it's still a worthwhile show everytime you walk in the door.
A few must see funk & brass bands have standing gigs here on weeknights. The shows will start late. Tip your bartender, dance your ass off, hang till the service industry crew gets out of work. Back patio is smoker friendly, whatever you indulge in.
Maple Leaf Bar: Local music at its finest
Live music in an atmosphere that captures the history and character of a city as unique as New Orleans is tough to find, but the Maple Leaf does it like nowhere else. From the pounded tin walls to the patio bar and the local artist who paints as the band jams, the Leaf is in a category all its own. Though the dance floor can get pretty crowded, its casual atmosphere, reasonable prices and diverse crowd and performers make the Maple Leaf a great place to check out for an evening.
Dress Code: Come as you are. The last time I was there, I saw everything from a group of what looked like cabaret dancers to some guys rocking Zoot suits and top hats. Just enjoy!
