The "OZ", New Orleans
The 800 block of Bourbon Street is informally gay. It certainly has one of the highest concentrations of rainbox flags and banners anywhere outside Castro Street. That said, this gay visitor to the Big Easy felt comfortable pretty much everywhere I went. Moreover, there much mixing pretty much everywhere - gays and straights co-mingling regardless of the "official" orientation of the nightspot. Oz was one of the "mainline" gay clubs in the Quarter. I found it to be friendly, with a great dance floor and an interesting mixed clientele. Dancing all long - yes, yooperprof had quite a time of it in New Orleans!
Dress Code: casual
Great dance music, a 70/30 gay/straight split and awesome drinks are what you will find at the OZ. This place is really great fun, if you are not a prejudiced bunch.
Dress Code: Club wear is the norm.
